Lots of new books to talk about, taking up space on my
bedside table.
I'm currently in the middle of Lawrence Hill's
award-winning novel,
The Book of Negroes. So far,
great.
I am also working on Jedediah Berry's
Manual of
Detection, an interesting looking recent publication
that I received as a gift from my sister Lynn and my Mom.
It's a novel that looks on the outside like an actual
Manual and, so far, it's a fun read.
My two brothers-in-law, Harry and Gavin, have
introduced me to the works of Harlan Coben, a former
basketball player from the US. Harry was willing to pass
along a stack of Coben paperbacks for me to read but Gavin
assured me that 2007's
The Woods is the best of
the bunch and a good place to start. I'll read that one and
then decide if I want to add Corben to the list of
must-read authors.
